“So, you wanna be my plus 1?”
What a cute story.
Source: overindulgentgirlI like the idea of flying solo or with a friend to a wedding. It allows for endless possibilities. Pam went to a wedding with a friend of the opposite sex and wound up meeting Beckman at that wedding. Without that friend and that wedding, Pam Beckman would have never existed. :)
Wedding invites are fun to receive in the mail. They are a symbol of friendship, or family…warmth and love. As September approaches and the fall wedding invites are sent out, the single guy or girl in the city opens the invitation with his or her name in fine calligraphy with the words (+guest). PLUS GUEST? ”Oh wow, who shall I bring….” Then things start to get complicated. On the right hand, weddings are a great place to meet someone else who is single. Also, showing up solo can be fun if you know a majority of people and your friends are all in the “Don’t take sand to the beach” mindset.
Then on the left hand, choosing a date is almost madatory. Do you take your ex, whom you still remain semi-friends with? How about that girl you dated a few times, but wasn’t really into her because her voice made you want to claw out your eyes? Plus, if you take a date, then you also have to double up on the wedding gift.
I think the best situation is to just take a friend of the opposite sex. It’s comfortable, there will be no pressure for an awkward hookup situation, chances are you know that they enjoy an occasional slow and fast dance with you, you can still meet someone new if the option is there, and you don’t have to worry about your date being a total creep.
