“In commemoration of Henry Hudson’s epic 1609 voyage into New York Harbor, the Museum is celebrating our City’s 400th birthday by recognizing the people who have had the greatest impact and influence on the world’s greatest city.”
For me the “Four Hundred” is the list of New York City’s 1890s super-rich. An upper class carved out of a freedom loving people who a century earlier had fought and died to separate from the tyranny of hereditary wealth and power. I am not really pumped that the Museum resurrected the term.
